Karen Gillon MSP
I'm proud to have served the people of Clydesdale as an MSP since the Scottish Parliament was set up in 1999. My priorities are what matters to you - improving education and health, tackling crime and anti-social behaviour, creating jobs and regenerating our communities.
Since the Scottish Parliament opened, I have welcomed hundreds of constituents to visit the building, listen to debates or to lobby me on an issue of concern to them.
If you are involved in a group who would like to arrange a visit to Scotland’s Parliament, or are planning a visit yourself, please contact me at my Constituency Office at 7 Wellgate, Lanark on 01555 660526 or email me at karen.gillon.msp@scottish.parliament.uk to arrange to meet me.
The Scottish Parliament is responsible for a wide range of ‘devolved’ issues including, the health service, justice, education, local government, the environment, culture and sport. The UK Parliament, at Westminster, is responsible for ‘reserved issues’ such as defence, foreign policy, social security and pensions. South Lanarkshire Council provides front-line services like, schools, social work, roads and lighting.
As your MSP you can contact me for assistance on any issue which is dealt with by the Scottish Parliament. You should contact your MP to discuss national UK issues and contact your councillors for help with local services. However, if you are unsure who to speak, then please contact my office for further advice as I will be happy to put you in touch with the appropriate representative.
In the Scottish Parliament I am currently the Scottish Labour Party’s spokesperson on rural development, but I also speak out on a wide range of issues of concern to local people in Clydesdale, such as access to health services, affordable housing, public transport and the environment. If you would like more information about speeches I have made or positions I have taken, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.
