Campaign 1 – Standing Up for Safe Communities
Anti-social behaviour can make people’s lives a misery. In Clydesdale, constituents often contact me to report repeated acts of crime and anti-social behaviour in their area. I believe we need to challenge unacceptable behaviour where it occurs and take positive action to tackle its causes.
In working in close partnership with local police and South Lanarkshire Council, coordinated efforts to address crime and anti social behaviour have proven effective, and through local people recording and reporting incidents and problems as and when they arise, many of Clydesdale’s communities have saw a significant reduction in anti social behaviour problems.
Recently, I have been campaigning for community warden working hours to be extended to evenings. It makes no sense to have wardens patrolling the streets during the day when most problems are reported in the evening and at weekends. I also want to see more police on our streets and meet with local police chiefs regularly to make the case for Clydedale.
